Happy Father’s Day – Papa Can You Year Me?

Today, 21 June 2020 is Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to my dad Jack, I feel so grateful for his unwavering love and support throughout the years. Happy Father’s Day also to my husband, Russell, father of our two daughters Maya & Alizé.

For this occasion, I am taking you on a musical interlude lead by my youngest daughter Alizé who is singing Papa Can you Hear Me? The song was composed in 1983 by French composer Michel Legrand with lyrics written by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and was the hit song of the movie Yentl, with Barbara Streisand as the lead actress and singer.

The movie depicts the story of Rebbe Mendel a Jewish single father and his daughter Yentl. Mendel teaches Talmud, a sacred text of Judaism to the young boys of his small Polish town. Girls are forbidden to study religious scriptures, but despite this interdiction, Mendel decides to teach his daughter behind close doors. When Yentl’s father dies, she still want to pursue those studdies;she disguises herself as a male and enrolls in a religious school, where she unexpectedly finds love along the way; and from there on things gets complicated. The movie is the story of a little bird who refuses to have her wings clipped before she has even had the chance to take flight.

Happy Father’s Day

Father’s Day is a day of honoring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in society and is celebrated on the 3^rd Sunday of June around the world although the day may differ in some countries.

There is something unique about the bond between fathers and daughters. It is extraordinarily special, sacred and beautiful. Dads are their daughter’s hero, playmate, chauffeur, financial support, listener, friend, guardian, protector and the one that will give them way on the day they get married. Daughters are loving, cute and affectionate little things. They adore you when they are little, they want you to watch everything they do and listen to everything they say, they demand undivided attention, love and care. Then, they grow -up, the dynamic changes but the love is still there.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there.

Aujourd’hui, 21 juin 2020, c’est la fête des pères. J’aimerais souhaiter une bonne fête des pères à mon père Jack et le remercier pour son amour et son soutien sans faille tout au long de ces années. Bonne fête des pères également à mon mari, père de nos deux filles Maya & Alizé. Pour cette occasion, j’aimerais vous emmener pour un interlude musical offert par ma plus jeune fille Alizé qui chante Papa Can You Hear Me ? La chanson a été composée en 1983 par le compositeur français Michel Legrand avec des paroles écrites par Alan et Marilyn Bergman, pour Barbara Streisand dans le film Yentl.

Le film raconte l’histoire de Rebbe Mendel, un père juif célibataire, et de sa fille Yentl. Mendel vit dans un petit village en Pologne et enseigne le Talmud, un texte sacré du judaïsme aux jeunes garçons du village. Les filles n’ont pas le droit d’étudier les écrits religieux, mais malgré cette interdiction, Mendel décide de l’enseigner à sa fille de façon clandestine. Lorsque son père meurt, Yentl décide de poursuivre ses études théologiques. Elle se déguise en homme et s’inscrit dans une école religieuse, ou elle tombe amoureuse d’un de ses camarades de classe, et à partir de là les choses se compliquent. Le film est l’histoire d’un petit oiseau qui refuse de se faire couper les ailes avant même d’avoir eu la chance de s’envoler.

La fête des pères est une journée qui honore le lien spécial qui existe entre un père et sa fille, ainsi que l’influence des pères dans la société. Elle est célébrée le 3eme dimanche de juin dans le monde entier.

Le lien entre les pères et leurs filles représente quelque chose d’unique. C’est un lien très spécial, sacré et précieux. Les pères sont le héros, le compagnon de jeu, le chauffeur, le soutien financier, l’ami et le gardien et protecteur de leur fille, et celui qui les conduira à l’autel le jour de leur mariage. Les filles ont une capacité spéciale à être aimantes et affectueuses. Elles vous adorent quand elles sont petites, elles veulent que vous regardiez tout ce qu’elles font et écoutiez tout ce qu’elles disent, elles exigent une attention, un amour et des soins sans réserve. Un jour, papa se réveille et se rencontre que sa petite fille a grandit et est devenu une jeune femme, la dynamique change mais l’amour reste le même.
