  1. Bonjour, Joanne.

I was DELIGHTED to read your latest entry, on a new platform. I will keep my eyes open and tell friends who, like me, enjoy intelligent, thoughtful, well-written pieces.

Meanwhile, I have to confess that I was not familiar with the story of Claudette Colvin. You made a remarkable point about the “political correctness” of the standards employed by the NAACP in selecting Rosa Parks as their heroine du jour. It’s sad, but the reality of the social morés of the time dictated that someone with impeccable credentials such as those exhibited by Rosa Parks would be better-suited to be the “poster child” of the nascent Civil Rights movement than a 15 year-old unwed mother-to-be. It’s tragic that we passed judgment on Ms. Colvin’s pregnancy rather than on the inhumane conditions of racism afflicting her, Rosa Parks, and all the countless African-American people at the time.

Your historical tid-bit was valuable and, as always, much appreciated.

Thank you, my dear friend. Keep writing!

    1. Bonjour Steve 🤗. Thanks for stopping by, for your kind words of appreciation, and for your continuous support of my work 😀🙏One of my favorite thing is to shine a light 🔦 on forgotten history, bring it to the surface and show its significance to all the curious souls out there. It warms my heart to know that my “historical tid-bit was valuable”😊. Stay tuned-in more to come….
